Downtown Marketplace – Serving up Community
An exciting milestone is arriving for the "little market that could." The Downtown Marketplace will be celebrating its 5th year in business and the 1st Anniversary at its new location as part of the West Street Market.
Step inside the bright red building on West Street and experience our community. Our customers are local residents of all shapes and sizes: city workers, shop merchants, bankers, lawyers, tattoo artists and derby girls come through our doors and visit. Food is a unifying force and makes folks feel home. Our aromas entice the senses, and the variety of locally produced products will surprise you. Our friendly staff does their best to make everyone feel comfortable. Visit our place more than once and you'll understand the comparison to that famous bar "where everyone knows your name." The diversity of our loyal customer base has guided our transformation from the original award-winning independent grocery store we started as, to the warm, inviting neighborhood gathering place it has become. Have I mentioned the incredible soup, sandwiches, salads, daily hot specials, baked goods, and coffees served fresh and affordably each day? We’re proud that people refer to our food as home cooking.
Speaking of coffee, we’re proud to announce the re-opening of our full service coffee bar. Featuring the products of Java Jungle, and trained by it's owner Matt Polley, our staff serves up gourmet coffees and espresso drinks, alongside freshly baked pastries and goodies. The coffees served are also available by the pound (in whole bean, or ground form) and compliment our ever expanding inventory of local products.
As we rely on the support of locals, we’re committed to supporting the creative community. The newest addition to our eclectic offerings is our Open Mic Fridays from 6pm-8pm. We’ve already had some great performances and each artist was awarded a gift certificate for entertaining us all. We open our cozy and inviting atmosphere to local artists who want to share their musical and theatrical talents and invite all to come in from the cold to enjoy a great show with great friends. This is loads of fun, so don't miss out!
A heartfelt thanks to those who continue to support us. And a shout to those who’ve not yet ventured in: Come and check us out!
