Art Bar Strega
Strega, Reno's premiere art bar, celebrated it's 1st Anniversary in July by throwing a massive party with live bands and by giving the vintage building a stunning red and gray paint job. Now coming into the holiday season, Strega brings in new blood and a new Fall/Winter special drink menu. Mixologists Shane Wesbrock and Heather Hudson--both from California--have joined the crew. Shane is a long-time bartender /bar manager from the hip side of San Francisco and Heather Hudson is from the sunny beach town of Santa Cruz. Each of them bring their professionalism and fun personalities, along with their own special drink recipes, to please thirsty guests. Wesbrock’s “Orange Manhattan” is made with Makers Mark bourbon, shaken to perfection and served with an orange slice. Heather’s “Eve's Apple,” butterscotch schnapps, apple vodka and spices is a truly tempting drink.
The fall drink menu serves up hot drinks like the "Casual Bastard," a hot blueberry tea drink presented in a warm snifter. Then there’s the winter favorite "Spanish Coffee," an old 1800's Portland recipe concocted with rum, steaming hot coffee and a fiery finish. Retro video games are available in the back room; an Elvis pinball machine rocks the house and the bar has free pool, free darts and free WiFi daily.
Strega still has its trademark art on the walls and is always looking for new artists to display their work. Artists can call Strega at 775-348-9911 to set up an appointment to show their work. “College Night” is every Wednesday with $2.00 draft PBR's. Happy Hour is from 4-7 PM weekdays, where you can get $3.00 Newcastles and Dechutes or a $4.00 well drink. Frosty budget-friendly draft Pabsts are $2.00 and hot soup--specially made by owner Jeremy Morrow--is free. Winter can be cold, but not at Strega, where a hot or even a cold drink can warm the heart and hands.
