I took my lovely friend Blizzard to the Chocolate Walrus last week to look at costumes for the party season.  We were blown away by the enormous selection and variety of sexy costumes store owner Tammy Borde has assembled this year.  Chocolate Walrus’ entire basement is literally overflowing with super hot options for dressing up your Decompression, Wild Erotic Ball, Vampires Ball, or Halloween wardrobe.  Chocolate Walrus has the sexiest national brands available, like Trashy Lingerie, Forplay, J. Valentine and Roma.  “Roma’s Queen of Hearts costume is our best seller and is off the charts,” notes Borde. 

There’s no substitute for quality stitching and proper fit with costumes.  I pointed Blizzard toward the corset rack and we were both impressed by the construction and detail in Borde’s huge selection of corsets.  Borde’s Chocolate Walrus Girls will be assisting shoppers throughout October with their costume hunting and fittings at the store Thursdays through Saturday.  The CW Girls have a busy itinerary this month.  Special appearances are scheduled in San Francisco, Las Vegas, and here in town at 102.9’s Wild Erotic Ball and the Vampire’s Ball at The Grand Sierra Resort & Casino.

The Chocolate Walrus Girls seem tasked to mesmerize, while they obliterate what it is to be a Reno 10.  Embodiments of the real-beauty aesthetic, they’re down to earth, fabulous and smoking hot.  “They’re all goofy girls. They crack each other up,” says Chocolate Walrus owner -founder and Chocolate Walrus Girls creator Tammy Borde.  Their motto, “Would you care for a piece of ass,” was coined at the AVN Convention three years ago with the original Coco Girls. Their presence created a sensation, attracting the attention of Rock of Love star Brett Michaels, who aggressively recruited a particular CWG to join the cast of the popular reality show.

Current Chocolate Walrus Girls Katie Goldbrick (wants to study medicine), Alyssa Whited (self-described gansta bitch, called herself strong and powerful),  and Barbara Undrusova (is full of surprises!), met when Borde called Nevada Casting and held their first open auditions May 9, for their CWG reality show concept.  52 hopefuls showed.  Borde picked a diverse group of women.   “The camaraderie  is really fun, “ says Goldrick.  They’re not afraid to say what’s on their minds, Borde declares. The girls are hilarious, got and sexy.

And in demand.  The ladies are appearing at the Good Vibrations VIP Party,  The Fetish Ball in Las Vegas and the LA Erotica Show.  “The girls have really put forth an effort and have done the work. It’s paying off for them. Now they’re able to take this project to the next level,” says Lead Photographer Alex Lemus.  Borde has the girls on a rigorous skills development regimen that includes acting, etiquette, modeling, traditional burlesque and choreography classes. Up to six body shaping hours a day in the gym has made their bodies fit and cut—creating  some wicked real-woman curves.

The team Borde’s built around the Coco Girls is formidable--beginning with Borde herself--once the youngest female modeling agency head in the nation; then there’s the brilliant PR consultant who landed a front page feature in the New York Times for Nada Dad Motel; Lemus, who understudied with  Scavullo; the mercurial Tommy Ingliss, former Public Relations Director for Reno Passport Magazine, and photographer Jamie Kingham, perhaps the most gifted fine art photojournalist in Northern Nevada.  Add core support from Nevada Casting with technical and facilities provision and you have a potential old school, studio-system juggernaut in the making.

This is fundamental artist development, and a crash course in the execution of breakthrough ambition.  Following Borde’s  killer instincts and absolute love and respect for each one of her girls, the Chocolate Walrus Girls will be ones to watch in 2010.
